talk to zengoddess, jerseygirl1, and iconnu... all three are local and have been in the job hunt recently. You may not find exactly what you want, but money is better than no money any day....
mfree speaks wisely. Have you looked into Starbucks or other such jobs? Theoretically "crap" jobs sometimes pay more than decently enough, and might have fringe benefits (like free coffee).

If I don't get a job in three weeks, I'm going to have to leave Atlanta.
This has become an all too familiar statement it seems. Good Luck Darling! Don't give up, if you were meant to stay, you will will stay! Unfortunately, I am not much help as far as advice on where to look....
You could try them. I got by on them for a while back in '96, but that was in '96. Volt Temporaries was verra good to me - sent me on some nice assignments, were straight-up with me and not "corporate attitudinal." There are several others, and they're all pretty much the same. The important thing is to have the attitude of "Whatever you send me on, I'll take." and the attitude of "I'm competent and flexible." That's what gets you hired.
But the beauty of working temp is that if you need to take off, you can. If you get hired elsewhere, no problem. If you want to work in a certain area, tell 'em, they'll get you jobs there.
Downsides: regularity of net access @ work, the fact that you're always an outsider, the fact that the range of supervisory talent and ability varies greatly (understatement), the fact that you have to go to lunch alone for the most part...variability of work schedules, drive times, etc., etc. Sometimes it really sucks. But it is work. And it can be relatively steady, especially if you have two or more agencies working with you. Don't ever go with an agency that requires you to pay them. That's not how it works *ever*.
Did you lose your job? That's not apparent in your journal...if so, my heartfelt condolences.

Are temp services hiring?
