Michael and I have come up with a little game to make Law and Order: SVU even more entertaining: The Tick Tick Game.

See, the rumor circulating is that Chris Meloni is planning on leaving when his contract is up. Stabler's always been... less stable than his name would suggest, and all the signs this season -- his separation, his getting suspended at the drop of a hat, ad infinitum ad nauseum -- suggest that he'll be written off the show by completely going postal.

Michael and I regularly call each other after new episodes and start the conversation with "He's gonna blow," so the Tick Tick Game is the logical extension.

Every time we see a Very Obvious Sign of Elliott's impending nervous breakdown, we go "tick tick tick tick tick tick tick." Because he's a ticking time bomb.

Elliott tries to nudge his son away from crime-scene photographs as the kid goes, "Is she dead?" Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.

Close-up of Elliott watching as his son beats up hookers in a Grand Theft Auto ripoff. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.

Elliott staring at a pair of cold-blooded thrill-killers. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.

We are sick fucks.

Damn. EXCELLENT.

Did you get my email re: Kellerman on Medium? I haven't watched the ep yet, but he was damned creepy in the preview.

Finally getting the first 2 discs of season 6 from Netflix this week...

I did! I caught a few minutes of it and he was VERY creepy. Which disturbed me. *pets the Mikey*

Season 1 of Without a Trace is on its way to me! :D

is it terribly wrong that the idea of him going postal sorta makes me a little...moist?

Knowing you, I'm not surprised. ;)

Oh, that would be an excellent way to write off his character -- sort of like Logan's exit multiplied by a gajillion! Hopefully, the L&O office will get a better casting agent before they cast his replacement!

Beat me to it! Not fully till next season. I guess they had to make us watch CI somehow!

Here's hoping Logan tells off Goren. A LOT.

I love Logan.

they're not supposed to be on together though! 11 episodes of goren and 11 of logan. i was hoping they'd get rid of the blonde and just have the two of them :)

i love bobby goren though! criminal intent easily beats svu everytime in my book! :)

Goren annoys the hell outta me! They'll be on together this Sunday though. Which means I'll have to wait till Monday to watch Carnivale! Tragedy! (The VCR died...)

Oh, I SO hope the rumors aren't true. I would miss him terribly. I have the biggest crush on him!

But I do see signs that he may be losing his composure. I just hope they don't make him go completely nuts and out of character like they did with "Doc" from Third Watch.

I'm STILL pissed about what they did to Doc!

Date: 2005-02-09 07:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] vikkilynn.livejournal.com
yeah, I thought it was awful.
It was done so poorly (so over-the-top and out of character) that I had a hard time even caring about what happened to Doc because he was like a different person. That sucked because I'd always liked Doc and all of a sudden I didn't give a damn. It should have been a very emotional episode to watch and instead I just felt disbelief.

i am really hoping that they don't try to pair his character up with mary stewart masterston!

Stabler and the shrink?

From: [identity profile] scarcrest.livejournal.com
I don't see it. Finding out Stabler's been having an affair with Casey Novak -- or that they started dating after his wife left him -- now, THAT, I can see.

Dude. I invented this. I swear. My ex and I even nicknamed SVU itself, "L&O: Ticking Time Bomb." Love it. :)

I think that would be a much better character exit than previous ones (*cough* Serena *cough*). Am I the only one who still finds it insane that Mike Logan is STILL exiled to Nowhere because he hit a city councilman in the mid-90s? I'd be amazed if the councilman is still in power, for heaven's sake. And there's the ADA in the witness protection program, several who moved on to better things, and poor dead Jill Hennessy.

Better he go postal than transfer out to vice or something. That, or get killed in the line of duty. Haven't had one of those since the early days in the '80s.

I suspect we're gonna get Lennie Briscoe taken down in the line of duty. And I want to see *every* law and order show at least mention it -- preferably with the cops in their dress blues leaving for the funeral.

That thought popped into my head a few weeks ago when he started freaking out on that one case. Do you think he's got a thing going on with Novak? I certainly do; I don't remember when that popped into my head, but they seem to have a lot of scenes with just those two, often walking into buildings together.

(Of course, I've also had the idea that Benson and Fin have at least spent the night together -- that came from the episode where Fin got shot.)

If Meloni does leave -- and damn, that would suck -- they better find someone with skills to replace him. Of course, for the most part, the men on these shows are really solid. It's casting women lately that's been their problem -- Novak, the last two assistants on the main show, the redhaired temp on CI, for instance. (Eames and Benson are great, and so's Van Buren.)

My pick, if we had to lose Stabler, would be the British actor Damian Lewis. (He was in the film of Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, but he really impressed the hell out of me in Band of Brothers as Richard Winters -- the bedrock of Easy Company.) Running a close second behind him, in my book, would be to cast either David Morse (of St. Elsewhere and Hack, plus his role in The Green Mile as Hanks' right-hand man) or Ron Livingston (also in Band of Brothers, plus The Practice, Sex and the City and Office Space infamy).

Hopefully they won't start casting people out of catalogs as they seem to have done with some of the female roles of late. Even more hopefully, Meloni will stay and this will be a non-issue.

Well, Benson does have a habit of sleeping with Munch's partners! :-)

Her reaction to Fin's shooting was a lot stronger than I thought it would be for anyone except if it had been Stabler. That was the main thing. And the way Stabler then comforted her, it seemed like he knew it was hitting her harder than if it had been someone else.

It was mainly subtext, body language and facial expressions. If there was anything in the dialogue, I've forgotten it.

See, I read that as a reaction to how similar Fin's shooting was to Alex's. Kind of "Ah, shit, not again!"
