Date: 2004-08-16 08:40 pm (UTC)Heh. Seriously, I'll check out that excerpt. It's just that you reminded me of the first thing I saw the last time I was in Memphis. It was about three years ago when my mother and I drove back here from California. When we came through Memphis, we decided to go down to the river, and we walked by some old guy who had just been knifed. He was too stunned to know what to do, and we were pretty fucking shocked. The police and paramedics arrived pretty quickly, though (faster than they ever do in Atlanta or Decatur), and the guy was apparently in stable condition by the time we left.
That was our introduction to the level of crime in Memphis. Now you're telling me they have vampires?
