Why do I love cats again?

After months of neglecting me, Sam the landlords' cranky-old-man cat has remembered that I exist and has been scratching on my door for the love. Maybe my landlady moved his blanket. See, Sam's food dish is on the counter so Molly the Jack Russell can't get at it. A while back my landlady put a blanket on the counter for Sam to curl up on, and now he eats, sleeps, and taunts the dog. It's a cat's dream life. But yeah, both last night and this morning he wanted to curl up with me, which makes me feel all special and stuff. There's something about a warm purring kitty that makes getting out of bed that much harder, even if you know for a fact that said warm purring kitty is a bloodthirsty monster who would as soon bite you as nuzzle you and probably dreams of ripping out your throat in your sleep, just because he can.

Speaking of my landlords, how many of you have been to their porn store in Buckhead, Lollipop? I've got a ton of coupons to hand out for those of you who would like to check it out.

I did some mini painting last night -- a genuine attempt at shading the cloth of a skirt. In the light of day this morning, I'm actually fairly pleased with it, which is really saying something considering that I was doing several other things and wasn't completely sober and was really just noodling. I also realized that for me, mini painting is really an extension of playing with Barbie dolls when I was a kid. For streamweaver's game I should be painting monsters, but I keep gravitating towards the chicks in pretty dresses. Who I never get to use in-game. And I do not NEED to mod figures and switch their heads so I can have the pleasure of painting Martina in a pretty dress, but I WANT to nonetheless. And I'm sure my girly color schemes would make most of the folks at the Reaper boards barf. But they make me happy.

monsters are hard to buy because they are usually used only infrequently, so a GM may want to invest in some, but a player may not get as much use out of them.

Of course I'm just lax in getting miniatures.

Well, considering that hardly any of my miniatures get much use... :P This is why I got so excited about that unfinished hag I brought in on Saturday. But that's not really what I get them for, or I'd be pretty disappointed. I know I have too many, but you know me... oooh! shiny!

I've got a pretty sweet minotaur that I'm looking forward to painting. And a medusa I'm working on.

Cool. You did the right thing on using the Hag mini too. As a GM I'm usually distracted and grab whatever is nearest to use for a mini for an NPC. If you have a mini that would make a better stand in than my usual d6 for an NPC than suggest as well. I'd love to showcase peoples minis but often forget who has what and where.

Reaper Miniatures are my crack of choice. I hang out at the message boards there, and almost of my figures (including Martina) are Reaper. The website has a nice Fantasy Fig Finder so you can find specific types of figures, and galleries so you can just browse.
