For months now I've been trying to convince my boss that we wouldn't have nearly as many problems with students and especially professors refusing to return overdue books if they'd just get me a taser.

After the last batch of "the rules don't apply to me, I'm a LAW PROFESSOR" offenses, I think I'm finally making some headway.

Will: Do you want a deluxe taser or just a regular one?
Me: I want one like Samuel L. Jackson's lightsaber with "BMF" on the handle.

I work in a library as well but with Medical School faculty instead. They basically feel like they own everything anyway so they never feel like they need to return something. Medical students are worse, when they don't steal the book outright, they exacto-knife out the pages they want. Very frustrating.

What law school library do you work for, is it here in Atlanta?

Yeah, one of my coworkers used to work at the Harvard medical library and he's got some humdinger stories. I work at the Emory law library, and I have a grudging respect for Health Sciences down the street because, while they make it a pain in the ass for me to check anything out (unlike every other ILL person on campus, I have the lovely added duty of going to the other libraries to get things for law professors, don't want them to have to overexert themselves), they're the one library on campus that actually tries to make the law profs return stuff on time.

lol. I actually work at the Emory Health Sciences Library. I do the campus ejournals project, emory medweb, and just did the new HSCL website and a bunch of other things around here. feygirl is also an Emorite. We should see about getting a Emory LJ Za thing at Everybodies Pizza sometime. In fact I'll post that in my LJ and see what people think.
