I remember when I went to Cali, I was asleep by 10pm because it felt like 1am to me and when I woke at 8am, somehow my jet lag was gone and I was fine for the rest of the trip.
Coming back home though was an entirely different story. :(
Try to go take a nap sweetie! *hands you her teddy bear*
Last time I was in CA, the thing that helped me with jetlag the most was going to Palm Springs for a spa day. Mmm. Nothing quite as nice as relaxing in a hot steam bath, sauna, et al, to help make you feel human again after changing timezones.
I remember flying from Baltimore to Bankok -- full 24 hours in a plane, and I don't sleep well in planes. Plus jet lag, of course. I spent half the trip and the day or so after it with absolutely no concept of what time, date, year, or even century it was. That trip screwed with my internal clock like nothing else. Trip was worth it though.
Longest time I've been awake was a little over 48 hours, my Sophomore year of college. I get insomnia pretty bad sometimes but this was the worst. I was completely non-functional and I called my mother at 5am on the second night of not sleeping at all (at that point I was probably around the 32 hour mark) in tears, sobbing so hard she could hardly understand me. Freaked her out -- found out later that she caused a scene in our family doctor's office because she didn't know what to tell me or how to help me and they were busy and everyone kept ignoring her.
I'm a little more prepared now, at least I know what to do if it ever gets that bad again.
