Date: 2001-09-23 05:03 pm (UTC)of course, the anima in us all has been subdued for much too long anyway, so why fight it?
Well...
Date: 2001-09-23 08:55 pm (UTC)Frankly, I've been surprised at the amount of generosity Americans have shown. Call me a cynic, but the past two weeks have blown me away -- people with so little of their own pulling out their pocketbooks to give, spoiled Emory students stopping to stand for half an hour in total silence, flags popping up everywhere.
But the primal's been there too -- racist remarks and attacks, the "kill 'em all" mentality, even from prominent people in our society.
We humans are a mixed bag, and right now it's all amplified, the good and the bad. We're on hyperdrive right now in our liveness -- it's everywhere I look.
As fer the killin' an' skinnin', them there's ways a life in Tin-uh-see... ;)
