despite all common sense and advice to the contrary, to connect with other people:

"Most gratification isn't from work, material things or routines, but from relationships."

Thanks, Thespian.

in one weekend, this is the third link i have seen to this self-same article. either the article is just that interesting, or the idea of "terror sex" is experiencing a nationwide appeal.

I'd say a little of both. And I'm sure I could probably come up with a lot more to say, but I think other people (that you've already read) have already said it just fine, and I need to kill and skin somethin' fer supper.

It also makes you think about how images and ideas move exponentially through livejournal, even when our friends lists overlap.

terror sex, killin' and skinnin' ... how very primal it all seems. and here i thought times of national tragedy were supposed to amplify our sense of moral purpose...

of course, the anima in us all has been subdued for much too long anyway, so why fight it?

Well...

Yes and no.

Frankly, I've been surprised at the amount of generosity Americans have shown. Call me a cynic, but the past two weeks have blown me away -- people with so little of their own pulling out their pocketbooks to give, spoiled Emory students stopping to stand for half an hour in total silence, flags popping up everywhere.

But the primal's been there too -- racist remarks and attacks, the "kill 'em all" mentality, even from prominent people in our society.

We humans are a mixed bag, and right now it's all amplified, the good and the bad. We're on hyperdrive right now in our liveness -- it's everywhere I look.

As fer the killin' an' skinnin', them there's ways a life in Tin-uh-see... ;)

Oh, dear.

If this is my optimal time for finding love ... given the state of affairs in my life these days ... I think it's time I drink the Kool-Aid...

(Mostly said in jest. Mostly.)

As if you don't have the pretty ladies showing up at your LiveJournal to hit on you.

And someone on my friends list thinks you're cute.

Now, I wouldn't deny I spend most of my days stumbling around with my head in a cloud (a small black cloud, no bigger than 100 square feet, that merrily follows me around through my daily routine, raining just on me -- the storm tracker radars used by local television filter it out as an everyday occurrence, and that's why it isn't visible on TV). But, huh?

Most of my LJ friends are women, yes. All seem quite attractive, from what I've seen. But most of them seem to be 1.) taken, 2.) underage or 3.) living all the way over in England or something. (Moey was my first LJ friend, so she warrants special mention all her own.)

Thanks for making me smile, though. :)
