While I think he shouldn't be back at all, he's saying he's innocent *cough bullshit* If he didn't go back to work, then it'd look bad.
Personally, the type of job they hold, they should make a point to suspend people until a jury decides. I get the whole innocent until proven guilty, but when you hold a job like that, waiting might not be the best idea.
Keeping on so he'll be able to offer resignation to get a nicer deal from the Feds...or in his own mind try to delay till after Inauguration and work for a pardon from a fellow Illini...
