[profile] scarcrest brings tidings of great joy: Richard Belzer has just filmed a guest spot on The Wire as Det. John Munch.

For those wondering why this is different than any other Munch crossover, go watch The Wire.

He'll probably have more lines on that one episode of The Wire than he has all this season of SVU.

Hehe. Awesome. :)

I loved the episode he did a cameo in for the X-Files way back when. heh.

This is starting to veer into the surreal (ok, the Sesame Street appearance probably already took it there). Future historians will wonder why this detective spent so much time pretending to be a guy named Belzer.

At the rate they're going, I may die of old age before that episode is released on DVD. But still, really cool.

Munch is depending his record. Last I heard, he'd appeared in more TV series than any other character:

Homicide
Law & Order
Law & Order: SVU
Law & Order: Trial by Jury
The X-Files
Arrested Development
Sesame Street

You left out The Beat. (But who could blame you?)

Also, according to Wikipedia Munch will appear in the new French version of SVU. Freaky.

The Beat? Crikey. I somehow missed the fact that that show ever existed. But it was Tom Fontana (thank you IMDB), and there's a long history of Tom Fontana and Dick Wolf sharing actors much more often than my friends and I swap books and CDs. If there's ever an Oz reunion and a L&O reunion, they could hold them in the same ballroom.

They're doing a French version of SVU?

*resists urge to mock the French by asking what would be illegal there, because really, it's the Netherlands where everything is permitted*
