If I'm lucky enough to get old, but I become one of those little old ladies who drives 20 miles an hour in the fast lane, and jams up lines at the pharmacy because I'm just too dumb and/or lazy to remember which prescription my doctor gave me but I know it's not THAT one so I argue with the pharmacist while twenty people are waiting behind me to pick up just one prescription, and calls the reference desk at the law library to ask questions that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the law but somebody told me that they know everything over there, and thinks I'm entitled to all of it just because I'm OLD, I want one of you fuckers to shoot me. In the head.

All due respect to my grandmother, but Greatest Generation my ass. Highest levels of classism, racism and homophobia; most resistance to spending one thin dime for the greater good of the community, the group most likely to whine, "Why should I pay for a new school? My kids are done!"

The ones who call us up at the newspaper and bitch to high heaven about "Those People" moving in down the street, hanging out on the sidewalk and "doing their deals" because, y'know, all black teens are drug dealers; who complain that the 105-degree brick schools don't need air conditioning, they should just open the windows "like we used to"; the biggest sense of enttitlement of any age group, including Gen-Y druggie slackers.

I still have yet to understand the philosophy of a country that insists upon free health care as an unalienable right for all senior citizens regardless of income, but refuses to provide the same for its children. I don't get that.

So, anyone who didn't hate you for your rant can now hate me! Ow, grandma, don't hit me!
