I'm really not sure what it says about me that I most feel the presence of God on the mornings when I get a really good parking space.

I mean, when I see a parking space hidden away just for me when a moment ago I was certain the lot was full, I just get this swelling of relief and a feeling that someone is watching out for me.

I seriously doubt God is concerned about my parking spaces, but it makes me feel better nonetheless.

Actually, there is a diety of parking spots.

I was trained in the lore of the Great Urban Goddess Squat. Squat is the goddess of parking places. She will offer up a parking place in return for the appropriate sacrifice.

The appropriate sacrifice is a really, really bad joke. Squat likes BAD jokes. Real stinkers. The worse the joke, the better the parking spot that opens magically before you.

However, she doesn't like repeats, therefore her worship entails becoming a collector of truly horrible humor.
