For all the Douglas Adams and Alan Rickman fans out there, I have news...

According to sources reporting from other sources at [livejournal.com profile] rickman_daily, Alan Rickman is to be the voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android.

Commence squee!ing now!

(I still want to see him as Crowley from Good Omens, though...)

Yesssss, he would be a great Crowley.

That is dynamite casting. As worried as I am about the movie, I've liked the Marvin designs I've seen. Although the Brothers Chaps should sue! Marvin looks like Strong Sad! :)

Rickman will be excellent, but the true brilliance in casting was Mos Def as Ford Prefect. Though casting Rickman does mean it's another Def/Rickman outing, and the last one was great, so maybe they were just being superstitious.

I feel like I'm going to have to turn in my geek badge for this... who's Mos Def?

Ian Holm? Really? Although now that I think about it I can't come up with an alternative.

I think of how he played the priest in "The Fifth Element" only take out a good part of the bumbling. Plus I have a feeling he'd have really good chemistry with Alan Rickman.

I want to know why they didn't get Stephen Moore to do it, dammit....but if we are to be Moore-less, Rickman will do well in a pinch.

cheers,
Phil

Weirrrrd. So, Warwick Davis is the Android's body and Alan Rickman is doing the voicing? That seems strange. If I were Warwick Davis I'd never stand for it! Even if it is Alan Rickman. *sigh*

Awesome! :D

Though I'm not completely sold on him playing Crowley. I'm sure he'd do an amazing job, but he just doesn't fit the mental image that I had of the character. How about Gary Oldman?

It's not animated -- it's live-action! Warwick Davis is going to be the one in the Marvin costume.

Who the hell's Mos Def?

When I was in college, we had an all-night book reading relay to raise money for "insert your favorite charity here" (can't remember)...anyway, we read the first 3 books of the Hitchhiker's trilogy (the 4th book of the trilogy wasn't yet published), outloud, non-stop, for 15 hours. Great fun!

I didn't know who he was either. He's a rapper who's apparently also a very talented actor. I think there's some info on him in the other comments on this entry. A lot of people are excited about him.

I am eagerly awaiting the Hitchhiker's movie (I hope they don't destroy it).
