Green Arrow's new Speedy is HIV-positive

For those who haven't been following the series, Mia is a teenage runaway Ollie rescued from the streets a couple of years ago, during Kevin Smith's run. She's also going to be joining the Teen Titans.

I hope this will give Judd some new enthusiasm for this book, because his work on Green Arrow just hasn't been up to his usual standard. Which is a shame, because in a lot of ways he's the perfect guy to write idealistic devil-may-care hippie liberal Oliver Queen...

It's an interesting wrinkle for a character, though.

I'm not surprised by this. His original Speedy sidekick was a junkie. He's the perfect superhero to have to deal with this issue.

Ans since its a heterosexual female sidekick maybe we won't be distracted from the issue.
