kellinator: (Jeopardy! by underwhelming)
[personal profile] kellinator
I was scouting some free food left over from the law school orientation (ongoing, so I should be able to score several free meals -- me, mercenary? Hell yes!) when some law students started walking towards me. One of them said "You were on Jeopardy!"

These two guys had remembered seeing me this summer and thought I was one of Ken's better competitors. We had a nice chat.

Why is this worthy of a post? Because it's the first time in my memory that law students have looked at me with anything even approaching respect.

I used to be a law student (and an instructor at a law school), and I've looked at you with respect (OK: it was more awe and disbelief). Does that count? If so, I was first...

Awe and disbelief... that works for me. I take it this was over the profanities I was screaming at your ex-asshat? ;)

Free food totally rocks -- I'm living off of the goatcheese mushroom sandwiches that I've been swiping from my firm's catering kitchen -- and respect rocks even more! Yay Kelly!

you must have some really obnoxious law students there. the students at my school don't behave that way: we all eat lunch together, park together, open doors for each other, try to help each other out. the law library staff is constantly out and around with us.

I'm quite envious. That sounds like a wonderful environment. Enjoy!

(and btw, for future reference, you are exempted from all my law-student rants. :) )

Yup, that was me! *giggle*

Yeah, the guys were like "you were one of the best people ever on against Ken." I asked them to write in and ask for the Beat By Ken Tournament.

I knew it! And a "Beat By Ken" Tourney would be awesome! What would you do with all the money you'd win? ;)

it's sad that there's a culture like thst perpetuated at the law school there. i guess the general concept of law school does encourage the kinds of attitudes you've described, and when combined with the stupid and petty way most people just are would create such sad and pretentious obnoxiousness and disrespect and disregard. i know that kind of atmosphere could prevail at times and in certain circles or contexts at the place where i went to undergrad, so maybe it's typical. i just know that where i go, it's not, and so i'm appreciative of that.

besides, i guess it's impossible to be in a bad mood or treat anyone really that badly here, where it's always around an even 75 degrees and sunny and the ocean is 100 yards across the street.
