See, I can't help but think that I must have filled it out wrong.

As everyone who knows me knows, I'm blazingly insecure. Growing up I was never one of the accepted kids, the popular kids, and it's stayed with me. I'm frequently convinced that people can't stand me and are just tolerating me till I go away, even in the face of evidence to the contrary.

It's weird to me to think that I could be any sort of hub, even though I've helped plan events and introduced people and stuff. In fact, sometimes the people I introduce like each other better than they like me and I feel a little jealous.

I'd love to be able to think of myself as a fun social person, but I just seem to have blocks against it. I assume I'm the outsider or the weirdo or I smell funny or something. Maybe this is all just a sneaky way of asking what you think of me? Am I as awkward as I think I am?

IRL: Well, I've only met you the one time, but out of all of the people that I was introduced to at the wedding, you were definitely the person that I liked best. I also distinctively remember wishing that you were at Millsaps or something, because you were someone that I would have totally loved to hang out with on a regular basis.

Online: You are eloquent, witty, snarky, funny, and compassionate all at once. You are so likable that I actively read and comment on your journal even though my only connection to you is an exboyfriend that doesn't like me much.

But I'm not going to scold you for your selfesteem issues -- I generally feel the same way about myself and am always shocked when I find out that people don't think of me as an outsider or actually like me.
