A conversation [livejournal.com profile] scarcrest and I just had regarding the potential suckage of The Punisher:

[livejournal.com profile] scarcrest: It won't be as bad as Constantine.
[livejournal.com profile] kellinator: That ain't saying much.
[livejournal.com profile] scarcrest: It won't be as bad as Catwoman.
[livejournal.com profile] kellinator: Again, that ain't saying much.

I liked Punisher. Garth Ennis may as well have written the screen play.

Well, that's encouraging. I'll try and withhold judgment.

It's actually been getting fairly decent reviews. Not good reviews necessarily, but more along the lines of "it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be". So, that's a positive.

However:

I already know it's not as cool as it could have been.

!But holy gods he's hot!

Does this make me a shallow person? No... wait. Don't answer that. ;D

Yeah, but I'm shallow too, so don't worry.

At least Halle Berry isn't in the Punisher ...

*remembers the look of the Catwoman outfit and shudders*

I can just see it now!

"We really feel Ms. Berry can bring something to the role that the Punisher has lacked in previous adaptations... a depth of character and a pathos that audiences will want to understand and explore, not to mention a smart, sexy appeal and a "tough" but "loving" sensibility..."

*curls up into tiny ball and reminds self that this is not real, but just product of an overactive and masochistic imagination*

It can't possibly be as bad as the first movie version.

I have to say, regarding the Punisher: Though I find that I like most of the comic-book action films that come out (to one degree or another), this one just looks like a Steven Segal film
