Harry Potter...I've known many a person who are well beyond what I'd consider the "target market" for the novels/movies, yet they all seem to have an almost cultish obsession with it (an interest that I just can't seem to grasp). What gives?

It's just... cool. And in all fairness, I'm behind on the books and not nearly as dedicated a fan as most of those on LJ. But I think they're terrific. If I could pick a fictional universe to live in, it would probably be Hogwarts. I think it just taps into the part of me that's still a child and believes in wonder.

Hear hear. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Hogwarts feels... warm and safe. It's like pulling on a fuzzy sweater every time I open a book. :-)
