It's about time for me to freshen up my hair, so I wanted to ask the peanut gallery: What's your favorite brand of hair coloring? I've got a great fondness for Feria but was curious if there were any other really good ones.

Go to 313 in Marietta. They dye very well and it'll last longer than the store-bought kind!

Clairol Herbal Essence. Makes my hair feel wonderful! And the color is amazing.

We second this, although our experience is mainly with highlights rather than coloring, per se.

I use the semi permanant clairol natural instincts.

Oh, and Sam Bear, I have no idea how a salon could make my hair grow slower, as, really and truly, that's the big difference. Fading isn't a big deal for me, and I use a semi permanant, so I imagine it's not so bad for most. It's the grown out roots that make it so I have to dye once a month or so.

If you can go to a local Sally's, check out Loreal's new red coloring for dark hair (can't remember the name, but it's next to the Feria and it's in a black box.) It really seems to give a deeper and longer-lasting color.

Try Loriel (I'm a boy, and therefor cannot spell hair companies.) Power Reds R75. Lex calls it "Jean Grey Red". Very nice. ;)

Manic. Panic. You want Mystic Heather hair, and you know it! Succumb... succumb...

Definitely go to Sally. Buy a separate dye and developer and your color will stay a *lot* truer. I learned all this when I started dying my hair black. Trust me, if I can get that to stick then this stuff works.

always go professional with your color, it lasts tons longer and stays so much truer in color, especially with reds.
i love Clairol MCMax colors. they have about six shades of red that are all amazing. right now i am trying one of their blacks (they have three, blue/black, red/black, and purple/black) and it has been really nice and not the least bit faded. i used the red/black and in the sunlight it looks dark burgundy. :)
