More evidence of my debauchery...

kellinatorI popped a bottle of wine open before 9 this morning!!
...Okay, okay. It was just for cooking. But I couldn't resist!
The wine went in a vague approximation of French Country Stew that's currently sitting in my crockpot. If it's any good I'll post the recipe. I love my crockpot. It makes my life so much easier. It not only does the cooking for me, but when I start a recipe, usually all I have to do is throw the things in the crockpot. I can even do it in the morning when I'm half-awake and listening to the SportsCenter that I already watched the night before. Plus, it's big (about five quarts, I think), so I have leftovers. My crockpot is my biggest ally in my attempt to eat out less and save money. Plus it's so nice to come home in the evening, open the door, and be greeted by the smell of freshly-cooked food. Yum!

Let's see if I can do this from memory

1 c brown sugar
1 T mustard
1 T vinegar
1/2 t salt
1/2 lb bacon, browned
1 lb hamburger, browned
1 onion, chopped & browned
2 cans (24 oz?) pork & beans / baked beans (can size is one larger than a 'standard' can)
2 cans (15 oz?) kidney beans, drained (can size is 'standard' - I use one dark & one light)
2 cans (15 oz?) other beans, drained (I like to use one can of garbanzo beans and one something else - I've seen Lima, Butter, and Great Northern beans used here.)
Put in crock pot, mix, cook on low all day. Refrigerated leftovers (if any) - they're even better reheated!
