Be kind to yourself

Yesterday somebody told me to "be kind to yourself." I've been thinking about that and what that means; it's not exactly something they teach you in high school. I thought I'd open the floor for discussion.

I am trying really hard not to be wrong and say, "Buy yourself a really big dildo!"

But would that really be being kind to yourself? Wouldn't that be being hard on yourself?

It does sound like a bit of a euphemism doesn't it?
