People often remark to me that I live life very intensely. (They also say that I overreact to everything, which is pretty much the same thing in my mind.)

The best phrase I can come up with to describe how living my life that intensely feels is "like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded."

I suppose that might sound like fun. It leaves me feeling like I need to throw up a lot of the time.

But I suppose if I changed that, then I wouldn't be me...

I once had a friend who said he admired my passion because I threw myself entirely into everything I did.
I suppose that might sound like fun. It leaves me feeling like I need to throw up a lot of the time.
I had a similar reaction.

I know what you mean, but the times when I have managed to be calm and happy and basically less intense I've found not that I'm less me, but more. The intensity doesn't go away, it's just more properly focused.. like taking off the blindfold. :)

I used to live life in a whirlwind. Then I got older and tireder. Now a donkey's pace is fine with me.

I'm envious of how passionate you are about everything. You're experiencing life with great gusto, don't change.

I don't think so. You are you, regardless of your choices.

Does it ever get any easier?

Yeah, I'd have to say it does.

If you get the right meds/right doses, the right people around you, who listen and understand (and a doctor who fits this description, very important), or who understand that they won't always understand, but who just care, if you have patience with yourself, and accept that it's a learning process, trying to figure it all out, and understand/accept that it & you are worth the effort...it does get better.

It sounds harder than it is, really. You're already very self-aware (very important), and have supportive people around you, and those are two major factors. I know it doesn't feel like it, but you're already well on the way. Have hope. You're stronger than you know.
