My mom just emailed me this:

Due to the popularity of the Survivor show, Tennessee is planning to do its own, entitled............ "Survivor-Tennessee Style."

The contestants will start in Jackson, travel up to Big Sandy and on to Grinders Switch and Hohenwald. Then they will head over to Pulaski and down to Fayetteville and over to Monteagle. From there they will proceed up to Tracy City, then back around through Rock Island, Smithville,.....and finally end up in Carthage.

Each will be driving a pink Volvo with Yankee license plates and a large bumper sticker that reads: "I'm gay. I'm a vegetarian. Beer is harmful to your health. The Vols suck. Vote YES for an income tax. Deer hunting is murder, and I'm here to confiscate your guns!"

The first one that makes it to Carthage alive, wins.

Good luck to all contestants.

Gunner reported that one a few weeks back on the Knoxville country station. Though he added something in about "Anti-War" and "Osama is my Friend" for the bumper stickers.

And while it's amusing at face value, I don't think it's that funny. It makes all Tennesseans as intolerant.... though even I wouldn't volunteer for that assignment.... not for all the money in the world!! ;o)

I think it's funny as hell, and not just because I'm a Tennessee escapee. My godson works in the state house, and was subject to all those idiots driving around the block honking their horns against the income tax. He loved this one.

I actually think Tennesseans are better than many of our neighbors... though watching the idiocy going on in the state the past few years, I'm no longer so sure.

I hate to ask a stupid question, but is Stephen your godson?

Seriously? [livejournal.com profile] scarcrest has been convinced for years he needs to go to Oregon because he thinks it's the antithesis of Tennessee. Does he need to be corrected?

Hee! Yep. And so is [livejournal.com profile] scarcrest Yes, they have the same birthday. And yes, they are two and one years older than I am, respectively. It's a really long story. :)

This is COMPLETELY unrelated, but I saw this and died, and thought of you when you were angry: http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/1222933.html?mode=reply

I think I've heard some of it... would you mock me mercilessly if I told you I've always thought Stephen was kind of cute? *ducks*

Can't forget the old-time favorite: "Discourage inbreeding - Ban country music"

Although, I can tell you that the majority of people I know in Nashville alone hate country with a passion, but that's just Nashville, I guess. :/

I used to think that liking country was an inborn trait of any Nashvillian. Well..."real" country, anyway. Nunna that pop/r&b/country crossover crap that seems to be dominating the mainstream.

...ok, I'll shut up now. :P

Poooossibly. The Oregon version takes you through Southern and Eastern Oregon, which is really a very different state from Western Oregon and the Willamette Valley.

Generally speaking ~

East side: Dry, hot, conservative, rural.
West side: wet, cool, liberal, urban.

I love both sides of the state.
