I just impaled my thumb on a staple. Ow ow ow ow ow.

It looked so weird in the middle of the ow to look at my thumb and there's just this staple sticking out of it. So I pulled it out (ow!) and then I had this little gushy geyser of blood on my thumb.

See, don't let anyone tell you librarians don't lead dangerous lives! Think I can get workers' comp for this?

And hey, you should be aware that generally if you have punctured yourself and the object is still inserted *do not* remove the object. Go to a proper health care technician of some sort and have them do it. Removing a pucturing object will, in the very least, provide an immediate hole through which blood will leave your body. And that really is the very least.
For a fairly insignificant pucture it's not a huge deal, usually (as long as it isn't, say, in your eye or something). But for some puctures removing the object can be fatal if not done properly.
