I just impaled my thumb on a staple. Ow ow ow ow ow.

It looked so weird in the middle of the ow to look at my thumb and there's just this staple sticking out of it. So I pulled it out (ow!) and then I had this little gushy geyser of blood on my thumb.

See, don't let anyone tell you librarians don't lead dangerous lives! Think I can get workers' comp for this?

Yes, you'll get workman's comp for as much as you can't work. :)
And the gushy geyser of blood was because you impaled your thumb. None of your other fingers have a pulse.
