Mar. 24th, 2003 10:58 amOkay, I'll admit I've had a lot of doubts about the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie, but the poster is fucking cool.

Date: 2003-03-24 08:51 am (UTC)The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a terrific comic book by Alan Moore (author of Watchmen and widely considered one of the best comic-book writers). The premise of the comic: In late Victorian London, a team of characters from pulp fiction (Allan Quartermain, Captain Nemo, Mina Murray from Dracula, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde) are assembled to protect the British Empire from various threats. It's a brilliant, tongue-in-cheek piece of metafiction, complete with cameos by a veritable Who's Who of Victorian literature and a sternly moralizing narrator. There have been some major changes for the movie, but I'm hoping it won't suck too much, 'cause damn it's good.
