I was in T.J.'s playing trivia with [livejournal.com profile] sirinek when the speech came on.

After a couple minutes I wouldn't even look at the TV. I put my head in my hands and started crying.

And then when it was over, what seemed like the whole bar started cheering.

I went out to my car and screamed for five minutes.

although as a rule I'm against the killing of anyone... if there is no choice, better a handful than a thousand. I want as many people to live as possible.

I'm not sure exactly what position you're taking, but do you really think Iraq could launch an attack of pretty much any sort?

Letting Bushy-boy have his grudge match is NOT going to save any lives.

I don't really have a position. I'm neutral. I think it's possible that Iraq could make an attack on its neighbors. It's a documented fact that Iraq has violated the cease-fire agreement that ended Gulf War I by firing on US planes in the no-fly zone. How the US responds to that is up to the leadership. I'm a little surprised that the US let those kinds of attacks go on as long as they did... I wonder if the Iraqis had actually been able to shoot down a US warplane would the situation be different today? I think Iraq is one of those countries where the military gets top priority for national resources, so the condition of the average citizen probably isn't the condition of the average soldier. So I think attacks are a possibility, and it's the responsibility of the US President to take care of the citizens of the US. How he does that is left to him.
