I do too... but at the same time, I can see how it's an issue.

I'f UDC has a contract that specifies the name of the hall then shame on Vandy's lawyers for not thinking ahead... But I think Vandy is trying to move away from it's "Old South" image and thisis a big step.

The funny thing is, I don't even know why I find it hysterical... You're right about this being a big step for Vandy. But I find it vastly amusing that the only times Vandy ever makes CNN is when it's in trouble over delicate racial issues.

Honestly? I'm sick and fucking tired of white people being penalized for expressing any sort of heritage what-so-ever, but it's perfectly fine for blacks to have their separate associations. There are even black colleges. How do you think that an exclusively white college would fly? Not very well.

I'm enraged by the current double standard. I think that the Daughters of Confederacy have a right to keep the word "Confederate" on the building, just as Shaw University ( in North Carolina) has the right to keep on being a "black" or "african american" institution. When certain members of the African-American community stop wanting special treatment, then maybe perhaps we'll take the word "Confederate" off of buildings.

I'm sorry, but I get really pissed about this double standard in the USA all the time. For example, it's okay for black comedians to make racist jokes about white people, but if a white comedian made racist jokes about black people it would be a "tragedy". Fuck that fucking hypocrisy.
