I've been wondering lately, what would be the soundtrack of my life?

Here's what I've come up with, Volume One. It's more detailed in some places than others, because frankly, my childhood was really boring. And if you start thinking "Waitasecond, Jude Cole didn't have an album out in 1984!" you're taking this way too seriously. :)

The Kellinator's Soundtrack, Vol. 1:

"Start the Car", Jude Cole (childhood)
Even as a kid I knew I had to get out of Pulaski.

"It's the End of the World As We Know It", R.E.M. (TIP)
Remember the first time in your life you fit in? Remember how you never wanted it to end?

"Runaway Train", Soul Asylum (high school)
Hi, I'm sixteen and I'm suicidal.

"Every Breath You Take", the Police (I'm not even going to say his name)
It seems sweet at first, then you realize it's creepy... kinda like my high school sweetheart.

"Run-Around", Blues Traveler (more high school)
My favorite song for years, and oddly appropriate to more of my friendships/relationships than I'd like...

"You Pay for What You Get", Dave Matthews Band (senior year)
This song was my high-school prayer for karmic retribution.

"One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces", Ben Folds Five (graduation)
Give me my diploma, give me my scholarship, and get the hell out of the way. The valedictory address I wish I could have given.

"If I Had a Million Dollars", Barenaked Ladies (freshman year of college)
Dude! College is cool! And my room's the one where this song is always playing...

"Don't Speak", No Doubt (best friend steals boyfriend)
I really feel that I'm losing my best friend...

"Life in a Nutshell", Barenaked Ladies (Joe)
I was on top of the world...

"Save Tonight", Eagle Eye Cherry (Richard)
...and then it all went to hell. And it was all my fault. And I still don't know if I'd change it.

"Tangled Up in Blue", Bob Dylan (depression)
I'd turn out all the lights, curl up in the fetal position, and play this.

"The Real Slim Shady", Eminem (Natalia and Happy Fun House)
Will Smith doesn't have to cuss to sell records, but I do, so fuck him and fuck you too.

"Leaving Town", Dexter Freebish (breaking up with Joe)
"You'll never find anyone who loves you like I do" is the ultimate backhanded expression of devotion.

"Pinch Me", Barenaked Ladies (moving to Atlanta/starting grad school)
What happens when your dream comes true... and it turns out to be a nightmare?

"Everybody Knows", Concrete Blonde (grad school misery)
Everybody knew I hated grad school... I just didn't want to admit it.

"The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn", the Pogues (Rick)
Sometimes life ain't so bad if you can get drunk and sing this song with a good buddy.

"Famous Blue Raincoat", Leonard Cohen (Jason)
Sometimes all you can say is "I'm sorry."

"For Nancy ('Cause It Already Is)", Pete Yorn (Phil)
This song was on the stereo when I lost my virginity... and it ended up having even more significance than that.

"In a Big Country", Big Country (getting kicked out of grad school)
...but you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered...

"Save Yourself", Sense Field (meltdown)
Stoopid Kelly does stoopid stuff.

"Lovers in a Dangerous Time", Barenaked Ladies (starting over)
Gotta kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

(And yeah, I know 20% of it's Barenaked Ladies.)

So what's your soundtrack?

hm. maybe it's just me, but for some reason, the Joan Jett version of "Love Is All Around" reminds me of you. No idea why. Maybe it's the "you're gonna make it after allllll" part. heh.

I could NEVER pick a soundtrack of my life - hell, I make soundtracks of particular DAYS - too many songs mean too much to me at certain moments...

I will say that my theme song would be "Bootylicious" - just 'cause most people can't handle this...

=D

Totally rad idea...
I will have to think about it though, before making my own up.
Lots of memories, and even more songs to choose from.

Perhaps, Papa Don't Preach!

It would be so HANDY to have a soundtrack for your life. Like, for example, you would know if something was sneaking up on you. Also, you would know what emotion you should be feeling at any given time, and if you were with Mr. Right, for sure, you would DEFINETELY know. The past couple of days since I moved out of my parents house, the soundtrack of my mind has been running constant Proclaimers "And now that I don't want for anything, I have Al Jolsen sing I'm sittin' on top of the world..."
