You're never going to believe this, but it's Monday and I'm in a good mood!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

And furthermore, I intend to stay in a happy, positive mood for the rest of the week at least!! See, I'm posting it here to remind myself!! I reserve my right to snark, of course, but YAAAAAAY!!!

Governor recall headed to California ballot

Granted, I am not from California, I don't follow California politics closely, but what's up with this? If you don't like the guy who got elected, now you don't even need an excuse or an independent prosecutor, you can just pump money into campaigning to getting rid of him? Am I the only one who thinks this is a corruption of democracy? I understand not being happy with elected officials, but if I tried to force a recall of certain public figures, I think I'd be receiving a visit from the Department of Homeland Security or worse.

By the way, I'd like to say I think my own political party is too honorable to try this, but really I just think they're too dumb. And broke.

Not surprisingly, meeting astrophysicat and tenn_crichton was totally awesome! It felt like meeting up with old friends. You two are da bomb!!

Oh, and while we were having coffee Cara and I spotted a tv spot for Pirates of the Caribbean and immediately turned into little jennywrenn clones. ;)

And I now have word from four people that I am both more attractive and thinner than my userpics make me out to be! Yaaay!! Cater to my vanity!!

Secretary, and thoughts

At slsanfran's suggestion, I saw Secretary this weekend. My eeevil side thinks it would be fun to hand an unmarked copy to my mom. "It's a movie about a secretary, like you!" But I digress.

I really liked it. Maggie Gyllenhal (sp?) is a terrific actress; she can say it all with a look. I hope she has a brilliant career.

As Scott and I agreed, it's not really a movie about BDSM. Sure, it got more publicity and interest because of that. But it's really -- and I swear I was skeptical when my co-reviewers at AAR said this, they're mostly married with 2.5 kids -- it's really a fairy tale. About there being someone for everyone, against all odds.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that somewhere out there, there is someone for everyone who wants someone. I mean, just last night my mom was telling me that my dad's best friend, who is a redneck with a beer gut like he's expecting triplets, has found love with my mom's shrewish coworker, who marvels that he likes her for herself. See? And you should see the way astrophysicat and tenn_crichton look at each other. If they weren't so damn cool I would have gone into insulin shock. ;)

I don't mean for this to sound patronizing to all of us who are having trouble finding that someone (myself included). But I just can't help but think that it really can happen, if we believe in it.
