Chris and I saw them perform on SNL... oh my god, they *sucked*
The lead singer was doing this Eddie-Vedder-esque singing while having a seizure thing, and the guys on instruments were out of sync and really seemed like they could barely carry a tune.
Very depressing moment in the history of music.
I think they only got a record contract because some music exec thought the song was "edgy" and they wouldn't sell the rights to the song for anyone else to sing it.
I am from SD, where POD is from and I can tell you they SUCK live! It was not just SNL. Insipid yes, profound...the idea is quite profound but not necessarily original to POD.
I am also a christian girl, I guess that means they are supposed to be my bro's, but I just don't get them or christian music. The subject of christian music seems so focused that I wonder how people keep coming up with lyrics.
I am so with you, Kellie. It seems to me that when something is so focused on imparting a lesson -- be it "I love Jesus" or "drugs are bad" or "eat your veggies" -- that it usually ignores the creative elements and utterly fails as art.
And I'm a Christian, too. I always feel mildly guilty for not liking Christian music -- but almost all that I've heard really does suck! Creed, anybody? :P
As insipid as that lyric may sound, it is actually quite profound. It speaks to absentee parenting and the root of the problem. Granted, their delivery is rather ham-handed, but it hits pretty close to the mark.

I am so glad I don't listen to the radio too often, something like that might make me lose control of the wheel.
