A LOLcat site for people with no sense of humor.

I would probably have let this pass without mention if the "About Us" section hadn't irritated me so deeply, in particular this part:

What the internet fails to realize is that most cats do not think like people. They think like cats.

On the contrary, I think the majority of LOLcat fans do recognize this. You know why? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT FUNNY. And if I want to anthropomorphize my cats, what does it matter to you, Mr./Ms. Humorless Internet Person? It's not hurting you. Are you a killjoy at parties too?

Anyway, after I showed this to coworkers, they started dishing out the stories about inexplicable cat behavior ("you are pretending to be asleep and I want you to get up and feed me already, so I'm going to start to push something fragile and valuable off this high shelf"). Maybe cats are as boring as this guy thinks they are, but I'm not convinced.

I've spent too much time and energy on this already. Especially considering a LOLcat could sum up the whole thing in three words: DO NOT WANT.

ETA: Guess I'm the one made of fail because several people have made a case this is a joke site. OH GOD I'M ONE OF THOSE HUMORLESS INTERNET PEOPLE

To be fair, I *do* know a couple of people like that, but none of them would go to the bother of making a site--they'd just write long rant about it and have done with it. The tone of the site makes me pretty sure that it's a humor site itself. :)

Actually, I think the site is funny in a one-off sort of way. I generally just roll my eyes at LOL cats. To me they stopped being funny about 20 seconds after I saw the first few. As would these probaby.

Some of those are pretty funny. Some of them aren't. It's extremely dry.

I'm pretty sure it's a joke site. At the home page it says the average word of the day is "brown."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that site is a joke. I know you already know (or suspect) this now. I have no ability to focus, so I clicked the link without reading your post and thought, "Hey, this is a joke, right?" Then I went back and read the rest of your post.

It's okay, dude. I am the ditziest smart person on the planet. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I have failed to understand, mostly in front of other people who were all too happy to point it out. ;-)

I like cats.

I also like Cheezburgr and all that goes with it. But I cannot help but feel that occasionally the LOLcat has the odd jumping episode over a huge scary fish with fins. So that site is also amusing to me.

Does this mean I'm bi-site-sual?

p.s. you are perfectly within your rights to rail on reflex at the trolls of the intarwebs. They are many and must be fought. In this case, though, you might have been ever so gently had. Roll with it, feel the love in your journal and move on :)
