James and I went to see the Atlanta Ballet's version of The Great Gatsby over a year ago. It was okay, but I'm really starting to regret that we went, because the Atlanta Ballet will not leave me the fuck alone.

I've asked their telemarketers to take me off their list several times, but still they keep calling, and you cannot shut them up or get a word in edgewise. They keep goingandgoingandgoing... and when I finally lost it at this latest guy and told him I didn't appreciate the high-pressure sales tactics, he started telling me he wasn't high-pressure at all and got himself hung up on. Look buddy, eye of the beholder. You telling me you're not high-pressure... just makes you that much more high-pressure. Jackass.

These people are working really hard to ensure that when we have money again, we won't be spending it on ballet tickets.

I hate them because they added a panda to the Nutcracker.

There are no pandas in the Nutcracker.

Next time they call, tell them that you have requested that they not call anymore (and if you're on the DNC list tell them that too), and the next time they do you will be reporting them to the FCC.

You can't tell the telemarketers, they're just a contractor and it's not in their best interest to leave you alone. Call the office of the Atlanta Ballet and tell them a) you want off the list and b) this is what their telemarketers are doing and it's gonna kill their donations. I'd bet real money they don't know how obnoxious those folks are being.

get the callers name, and ask for his/her supervisor and get their name too, telling both of them to stop calling. record the time of the call and the names and that you've requested they stop calling, and if the call again record that too.

Why not save yourself the trouble and just hang up right when you find out who it is? That's what I do.

Symphony did the same thing to me when I asked for and received FREE tickets. Fortunately, I'd put down my work number so when they called my old lab and actually got me for once, I was all "How did you get this number?? This is my WORK number." (Because, you know, I'd forgotten.) Guy was all apologetic and they never called me again.

Good grief... people are stupid. If they call again, ask for the manager and tell them that they're pretty much guaranteeing the loss of your patronage if you don't leave them alone. Though telling them that if they call you again, they'll hear from your lawyer is a nice touch, too.
