You guys know you're supposed to let me know about this stuff.

I am astonished that I had to find out that Lindsay Lohan was finally charged from CNN instead of my normally on-top-of-the-trash friends page. I guess that means you guys are deeper and better-adjusted than I am. Guilty as charged. I'm about as deep as a kiddie pool. What I wanna know is, what the hell would she have to do to get charged with a felony? Mow down a Sunday-school class while double-fisting PGA and steering the car with her feet?

I do have some thoughts on actual news issues, which I will deal with after I scoop my flist.

Okay, this is a stupid question: does Lindsay Lohan have a purpose? I mean, what has she actually done to make her supposedly famous? I'm really out of the loop on pop culture these days. Ditto Paris Hilton. Besides being rich and (fsvo) "attractive" and having the moral fiber of a cheap-suited television lawyer that has commercials on local TV at 3:30 AM, what do they do besides being arrested? I'm honestly lost.

A co-worker of mine with a tween daughter has assured me that Lindsay Lohan, when not drunk or high, is actually a very talented actress. In fact, of the unholy trinity of Lindsay, Britney, and Paris, I actually have the most sympathy for Lindsay, who has an alcoholic father and a fame-hungry mother who parties with her daughter and isn't above figuratively whoring out her kids. Not that this excuses Lindsay's actions, but the kid has had a rough time.

As for Paris? Beats hell out of me. As best as I can tell, she managed to become famous for being rich and vapid.

If you watch Mean Girls and A Prairie Home Companion, you do see that Lindsay Lohan is a good actress, and does actually possess acting range, unlike some other so-called actresses. In several magazines over the past few weeks, I've seen articles bemoaning Lindsay Lohan's meltdown, talking about her debut films under Disney and her initial "clean and wholesome image" and her acting talent, particularly in her debut in the remake of The Parent Trap. I've also seen comparisons between her and Drew Barrymore, as a star who rose too quickly and fell hard and fast, flaming out.

Maybe if LiLo's serious about rehab this time, she'll have a second act as successful as Drew's.

I do think she has acting talent, but based on some anecdotes from around town she needs to work on her empathy, politeness, and atrocious excess of entitlement. I agree she is worthy of some sympathy because of her family situation, but she needs to learn quickly if she is going to turn it around. When the word is that studios won't even hire her because it's impossible to get a company to insure her and her attempt to go edgy by playing a stripper in a dark murder mystery makes almost no box office, the road to a comeback would seem to be arduous.

It's scary I know this much about Lindsay Lohan et al but I suppose this comes from being the uncle of multiple tweenagers.

While not astounding by any means, Lindsay has a decent track-record as an actress, with the top of her career so far (if she keeps acting out) probably being Mean Girls in 2004.

She may be a drunken tramp/skank Hollywood whorelet but I'd still do her in a heartbeat.

That said, after a few romps I'd quickly discard her. But I'm male and this is the lower brain talking. (not this has any real chance of ever happening, mind you..)

Come on Doc, you're better than that. I doubt she has the mental capacity to consent at this point, and hasn't she already been used enough? Stick to Paris Hilton, I'm pretty sure she's using as much as she's being used.

Ahh.. remember, it is my 'little brain' was writing this.

Dude, did you read about her little sister being in a minor accident after she snuck out with her 16 year old boyfriend, who stole his mother's car? It must run in the family.

That's easy... go out in public wearing a hijab.

This is CNN newsworthy? I haven't watched the channel in a long time, but wow.

On the night that Paris had her interview with Larry King, I happened to watch Anderson Cooper, who - when forced by the network to lead with the story and go back to it not once but twice over the course of the hour - made all sorts of fantastic snide remarks. CNN might be going down the drain, but they still have a few people on board that are respectable.
