And the gold medal for being whiny crybabies goes to the Russians...

The Russians were already threatening to pull out of the Olympics based on their bossy skating judges actually (finally, I say) getting called on the carpet and other claims of ill-treatment, like too many of their athletes getting drug-tested. (If their athletes weren't doping up, it wouldn't matter, now would it?) In one article which I unfortunately couldn't find to link, the Russians actually threatened that the Olympics would be lost without them. I say don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. We did fine without you in '84.

Now the are complaining that they got screwed last night in the women's figure skating, despite the fact that bratty, whiny Irina Slutskaya, who (whom?) they claim should have won, skated like a robot trying to vogue.

If the Americans made claims like that, we'd get roasted in the international media, and rightly so.

Ya know, I had a feeling that was going to happen.... They need to face facts taht Sara was FLAWLESS and Irina was FLAWED... and Sara's routine was more difficult...

WAAAAA!!! No most state-supported sports has hurt their dominance! Waaaa! Too friggin' bad. Welcome to Capitalism and Democracy! DEAL WITH IT!

I hear ya' sister! Those russians are crying because they can no longer influence other judges. So what do they do? They act like crybabies saying they are going to pull out of the olympics if they don't start winning soon. Well, sorry, you have to be the best athlete to win...not the biggest cry baby!

I actually thought it was humorous that they tried to strong arm a win last night and didn't! Now they just look stupid filing a protest!

Thank you!

I can't tell you how much satisfaction I get from writing a phrase that resonates with someone else, especially someone whose writing I admire...

Funny! Yes the Russians do get the award for belly aching. You've defined Irina's style wonderfully. You know I wonder about her. I want to know the STORY!!! She's 23 & married? I'm nosey I want to know why she got married!! Actually I think she's pretty smart. Maybe her parents are getting older. She hasn't gone to school. She lives in Russia why not find a nice husband to help take care of her. I saw a segment where she talked about him & how he was nice & didn't push her. He saw her on TV & liked her. So his dream has come true. I just find it extremely interesting how she's married at 23. It just astounds me. Most Americans wait until 45 to get married anymore. :)

You were correct in your supposition of "Who". Who and Whom can be viewed as parallels of "he" and "him". When you can use he, use who, when you can use whom in its place, use whom. I was confused when I first started to try to figure out which was appropriate, because I think "they claim" should be set off by commas, but I'm not sure on that. All I know is that "who" is the subject of "should have won" which was interrupted by "they claim". See, you could say "He should have won" therefore you say "who, they claim, should have won". Yay for grammar! Watch me be wrong. ha!
