I feel your pain. I've done the reverse of that once when I attempting to prime a miniature and accidentally sealed half of the miniature instead of priming it.
Not half as frustrating as yours in and of itself, but it was the fact that I had accidentally purchased the seal instead of the white primer to replace an empty can of primer and had to go back into the store once more to purchase the CORRECT spray can. *shakes head* Bleh. Note to self - ensure that you are completely awake before purchasing and using painting products. Heh.
