Why do I do this? Oh yeah, it's my job.
Sep. 2nd, 2004 04:15 pmI ran off sixty copies for a presentation on interlibrary loan for the law journal spaders.
Five students showed up.
I don't know where the rest of them are, but there appears to be a school-sponsored kegger going on outside...
*beats head against brick wall*

Date: 2004-09-02 01:43 pm (UTC)I made 65 copies of an 18 page report for one of the physicians, only to be told later that he wanted them scanned, not copied.

Date: 2004-09-03 04:04 am (UTC)Not showing up for class is more than insulting - its shows a total lack of respect. In Japan its unheared of. If these guys are ever going to be more than a drain on society they need to have high work ethics and integrity.
If they dont turn up to class fail them or subtract class credit.
Give one-off death or glory extra-credit assignments to those that do.
Simple fact: those who put in the work should reap the rewards - not those that waste your time should be coddled.
Once word gets around that you are a 'hardcase' or 'tough + not fair!' lecturer things should go just fine. Especially if you temper this with a certain amount of tolerance (every lecturer knows those students who are working as opposed to coasting. )
Its nice to be nice, its just as important to be respected. (thats my advice for what its worth. :)
