Don't you think it's interesting that in the midst of a disastrous war, an election year, and ever more revelations about how dissent from the current administration can cost you your job, CNN.com's major story from the past couple of days has been all about Sandy Berger and his memos.

Not to excuse anything he may have done, of course, but when you've tried to avoid speaking to the families of 9/11 victims and also tried to keep the 9/11 commission from taking the time it needs, your sudden obsession with the absolute propriety in the goings-on is suspect to say the least.

It's fuckin' stoopid. STOOPID. This is top news because he's actually *aghast* cooperating with authorities. It doesn't look he pulled the Republican stunt of refusing to cooperate intitially, and then coughing up the documents.

This heavy handed McCarthy tactics have got to be put to an end. I can't believe that there are people who just blindly believe in this right wing nut job and his minion. God save us from the true believers.

What I found interesting was the first headlines (all from cnn.com I think) described him as a former Clinton aide when it was all just allegations and then the headlines switched to describing him as part of Kerry's campaign when it turned out to be true.

*puzzles*
I am confused as to how this is of concern when this has always been the way the powerful stay in charge; misdirection and accusation.
Honestly, since when has government/aristocracy anywhere in the world been different?
The first step to be able to deal with a problem is to realize the reality of it; the tactics they are using come straight of the "The Discourses" of Machiavelli. I, as a human being, would expect nothing less of the aristocracy.
