My husband and I went to Auburn for our bachelors (at different times) then he did his Masters at Virginia Tech. Then we were at Vandy for three years. Next down to Athens for the PhD.
We went to several games while at Vandy, being the die hard SEC fans we are. I have to say tho, it looked like that many of the student section must have come straight from church. Or perhaps going to a wedding after the game judging by the way they were dressed and the 'best behavior' mode. We were all decked out in Dore sweatshirts and shakers, making tons of racket... GO DORES! Cheering the team, obligatory harassing of the ref and general verbal disembowelment of the opposing team. But let me tell you, if I had been told one more time to "sit down and be quiet" I would have had to do something really rather unseemly. We were at a game! I mean we grew up frequenting the battlefield known as Legion Field (Birmingham), the supposedly 'neutral site' for the annual Auburn/Alabama games (until finally Auburn finnished Jordan Hare Stadium, it is HUGE!). Football, basketball, womens basketball, gymnastics.. we went to them all!
While I can honestly root for Vandy (cause heaven knows they needed someone to really cheer them on), and can definitely pull for them Dawgs, my heart belongs with the Tigers. War Eagle!
And did I mention my alligator pumps? Pricey for game attire, but so much more than just a fashion statement, don't you think? ;)
