Come the monsoon

I adore thunderstorms.

I've been crossing my fingers all day that we'd get a good one, and a few minutes ago I got my wish.

In my office I heard the sky split open. I dashed to the windows for a look and saw... hail. Itty bitty hail, but still hail. Wow.

I love thunderstorms -- the more thunder and lightning, the better. They make me feel so alive.

I used to think the same thing until this season when to live where I am you need to build an ark....

Hail is bad. Hail is very very bad. I got my fill of quarter sized hail when it beat the living daylights out of my car a few months ago.

I love thunderstorms EXCEPT WHEN I AM GOING TO A BRAVES GAME THAT FUCKING AFTERNOON. Every damn time I want to do something outside recently, it rains on me. Jimmy Buffett show at Lakewood? Rain. Braves game several weeks back? Rain. Braves game today? Rain AND heavy thunderstorms.

I'm not a damn plant. Why do I need watering? Stupid clouds.

I love thrunderstorms too except when I have to schlep from one building to another on campus. Damn umbrellas don't work half the time! Argh!

OK, one quick response, THEN I go to work.

I used to like thunderstorms. Then the 1999 tornado hit Benton County. I started getting over that, then the one in May landed right across the street from the newspaper.

Now: I don't really like thunderstorms, but I do love steady rain.
