hmmm... i wouldn't have thought that the temp dyes stain skin, otherwise i would have definitely encouraged use of vaseline.
even after fully greasing up neck, ears, and forehead, i almost always get a little residual hue someplace i missed (forearms, back, etc)... and repeated soap-scrubbings have done the trick. rather than rubbing your skin raw for that long, try lots of firm, *short* scrubs with soap, so you can maximize soap exposure and minimize friction.
