happy happy joy joy
Dec. 9th, 2002 01:13 amToday I completely took the day off. I do this more often than I like to admit... spend a whole weekend day in pajamas. I stayed up late last night reading and playing Civilization II for the first time in months, then curled up in bed with vague thoughts of trying to get up early enough to find a church to attend. Well, that didn't happen. I woke up at two this afternoon and went right back to my Civ game. I love Civ. I should play it more often because it makes me happy.
I think it's so interesting that I've finally gotten where I enjoy spending time alone! I just hope I don't become a hermit. I need a cool place to hang out and meet people. And probably to spend less time on the damned computer. I don't want to become boring.
(Off-topic: Does anyone know of a nice Atlanta-area church that won't try to tell me how to vote and preferably has a singles group?)
I went out to Noodle tonight (mmmmm, yummy!!) and finally started reading Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. I've skimmed most of the books but wouldn't feel like I'd really read them till I did it cover to cover. Well, I'm a third of the way in and I'm loving it. There's just something about the Harry Potter universe that really gets me. I noticed it at Thanksgiving when I was showing Mom the first movie and I kept crying at certain scenes:
"Mom? Dad?" WAAAAAHH!!!
"Knight to H3." WAAAAAHH!!!
"I've got somethin' fer ya." WAAAAAHH!!!
I also started reading a romance for review. I have to try really hard to be fair on this one because it's by one of the authors who is constantly badmouthing AAR, but it's fucking hard when she's trying to make everyone from Tennessee look like unmannered, uneducated yokels and then has a so-called Tennessean refer to "soda pop." SODA POP!!! Motherfucker, NO native Tennessean says SODA POP!! It's either a COKE or a SOFT DRINK!!! If you're going to pick on Tennessee, at least do your fucking homework.
So I was sitting at Java Monkey reading Harry Potter and then I looked up and it was
polychromatic22!! I was so happy. We talked for hours. Janel is one of the most wonderful people I know and I can't wait to see you again, sweetie.
Sleepy now. Bedtime.
