The power of positive thinking

I know full well the value of positive thinking. Finding a parking space is a perpetual problem for me (thank you, Emory!), but on the mornings when I manage to convince myself that there is a parking space for me, really believe it and behave as if it's already happened, there is almost always a parking space for me. Hell, once someone moved their car at the exact moment I needed that space.

Now, the question is, how can I apply this to the things that matter instead of wandering around moping about how bad things happen to me and I can't get what I want? Because if I can't believe I can get it, well then I sure as hell can't get it.
