There's nothing like no exercise whatsoever in your life to give you the feeling that you have no energy for exercise.

Exercise is self-renewing. If you exercise, you have more energy. It's plain and simple. It's easiest to exercise in the mornings, simply because it's hard to get to sleep after waking up your body by exercising (which is also a good reason to start your day with it, exercise leaves you feeling like you have more energy afterwards).

20 to 40 minutes of cardio activity is really all you need. I have a big love of weight work also (whether by machines or by freeweights) but that's me (I do believe weights did more to affect my metabolism than simple cardio by itself, as increasing your muscle mass increases your metabolism). You have to have cardio (any aerobic activity that keeps your heart rate and breathing elevated) for at least 20-40 minutes at least 3 times a week to increase your health. This will bring blood, which brings oxygen, to all your bodies muscles. *This* is why (in my opinion) you feel more energized.

Try just getting up in the morning and taking a nice brisk walk 10-20 minutes in one direction, turning around and walking home. Make sure it's brisk enough to keep you breathing hard (and don't hold your breath with the effort, good rhythmic breathing is necessary).
