It's official...

After spending far too long analyzing it in the bathroom mirror, I can announce with confidence that my hair is purple. Really and truly purple.

How the hell am I getting away with this at my job?

Really and truly purple.

You should re-enact your icon, get a spiky bracelet and waggle your hand around like that. =)

I loved having purple hair! :)

maybe by Monday it will have worn off a bit. If not, then you should maybe try to dye another (more subtle) color over it...

I dare them to say something--do you have a written dress/appearence code? Otherwise, they can suck it!

exactly! you work at a fucking university... why should they care? at the worst, the patrons will just think you're a student employee. :)

i used to worry too... i worked at barnes n' noble, for awhile, and i was all nervous about my hair at the interview, but one manager didn't notice, and the other complimented me, saying she missed her purple hair, back in the day. it gives people stuff to talk about... which, if you keep it long enough, you'll get mighty sick of.

Hi...
It's Emory. Claim academic freedom.
If people can bring their dogs to work then you can have purple hair.
Last I checked, there wasn't a dress code here.

law school smaw school.

I used to have purple/black/brown hair. It has a certain "chutzpah!"

You're fabulous - that's why you are getting away with it!

don't make any big thing out of it. don't hide it or look apprehensive when someone comes up to you, and for ghu's sake don't point it out. odds are no-one will say anything anyway cuz they just won't have the balls to... =)

[i worked for the US Bankruptcy Court, in a position where i dealt with the public daily, with Easter egg purple hair, and no-one said or did a thing to me!]

Are you kidding? Librarians have been claiming for years that their image is too bland. If anybody says anything, proclaim that you're campaigning for the recognition that knowledge is sexy! (Never mind the REAL reason. Lawyers respect attitude and a stubborn one-sided argument, regardless of its relation to fact.)

Keep thae hair...

If you're working somewhere that would fire you over purple hair... I think you're working at the wrong place anyway.

:)

Dudette, that's fekking cool! I dyed my hair purple once, but it faded out quickly and I ended up looking like a psychotic Ronald McDonald.

Hee. I was given purple hair once. But since it was supposed to be flaming red, I was less than thrilled. Flaming red or cookie monster blue have always been my desired hair colors. Although I may never get to try cookie monster blue because I've since declared that flaming red shall be my color til I die (as opposed to dye). Anyway, if it's a pretty purple, don't dye over it! Release your Inner Purple-Haired Chick! This could be a great opportunity... you could just go a leeeeeeeetle tiny bit more purple each time you dye your hair. Eventually, you'll have lovely violet tresses and the folks at work will never have noticed the transition...
