Eeeeediots!!
I finally dropped my San Francisco photos -- all six rolls of them, I'm going to have to go into hock to pay for this -- at Target this weekend. Now I've got the photo lab on the phone telling me they've lost the film, and did I remember what was on it?
This is SO annoying.

Did you use the one hour or the outlab? (overnight or two day service)
If you used the one hour, they're morons - it can't be far or they destroyed it when extracting the film and won't own up to it. (or they gave the wrong photos to the wrong customer) If it was an outlab, I wish you the best of luck. Chances are you'll never see them again.
I know the way the film is treated in those labs, and you'd be amazed if any of it ever made it back to it's owner. (I was basically assist. mgr for a Walmart one hour lab)

I spent a summer working at a Target photo lab, and we had problems with sending things out all the time (mostly being late, but they lost several rolls of film while I was working there, too). I guess it got so bad that the Target I used to work at doesn't even send things out anymore.

I take my photos to CVS - like their service, and if you keep the receipts, you can check their progress online. Just a little tidbit o' info.
