I live in Bizarro World.

My mom just called me and in the course of the conversation mentioned that she had to get home in time for American Idol.

I was a little surprised -- my mom is not a fan of reality TV. Hell, she used to mock me mercilessly for watching Survivor. "You're watching that?"

"I voted last night," she replied, and then launched into a five-minute analysis of who has the best voice, who's cute as a bug but doesn't have as great a voice, and which contestants she thinks are hooking up.

My mom is funny.

Odd how its all different for her isn't it? You have to love those kinds of logic leaps.

It's kinda cute, actually... ;)

That's so adorable. My mum is watching MTV these days because she wants to be hip and up tp date with everything. She keeps telling me who's on tour at the moment.
It must be some weird adult phase.

two cents worth of self denial:

american idol is not a reality t.v. show

more like a talent show with a "behind the scenes" flair

there, now my non-conformist, non-reality t.v. show watching concience is clear

chuckle. That is funny.

Did you see they're making a reality movie? "The Real Cancun"? Now that's where I draw the line. Right there, the line in the sand. Survivor, yes, reality movies? no.

(oh, but I haven't been watching for a couple weeks, waiting til Marc gets back from vacation and then we're going to catch up on all of them...)

My mother, likewise, freaked me out with the fact that she watches AI. And apparently it's all my fault, because I told her last season how much I enjoyed it, and she decided to tune in and check it out.

At least now I have someone with whom I share most opinions about the performers. Though she doesn't have the love for Clay, as I have. Perhaps she's just too old to consider adding him to her stable of TV boyfriends. She goes more toward the Sam Elliott types.

I haven't watched it at all, but I looked up the webpage while my mom was talking about her favorites, and ooooh, isn't Clay the hotness?

My mom loves Sam Elliott too.
