What do you guys really think of me, anyway?

In the past ten minutes, three of you -- two by phone -- have notified me of the death of Anna Nicole Smith.

I really am too identified with the trash.

Can't say I'm surprised, though. And I'm actually going to stop there for once.

I got an email from a friend about it - a friend that I didn't know even followed celebrity gossip and the like.

Big news here at the law school (one of our profs actually sat in on the supreme court thingie). One co workers says it must be foul play.

I figure either she offed herself OR she's messed up her body chemistry so much it just gave up on her.

And I'm going to stop THERE.

One co workers says it must be foul play.

I had three co-workers and four students say the same thing.

Heh, I just had a co-worker come to the office from the shop specifically to tell us. *facepalms* Clearly the gossip must be spread!

[identity profile] renaissancekat.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, don't feel too bad. I had two people call me.

It's all abuzz here in the school of public health.

Thank you for not being surprised. Kellinator: a bastion of snark and sanity in a sea of naive shmucks.

I also had about 4 people tell me about it. it's sort of sad. but not surprising.

[identity profile] revised-06.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, EVERYbody is talking about it. I'm kind of shocked at how much everyone is talking about it, actually. I guess none of us could resist the trainwreck.

[identity profile] revised-06.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh and the hotel where she died is about 20-30 miles from my house. How weird is that??

[identity profile] bouncepogo.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was down by where [livejournal.com profile] darkmattr lived?

[identity profile] revised-06.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Seminole, FL is almost exactly 25 miles from Tampa. [livejournal.com profile] darkmattr lived (Lived? Did he move?) in Miami, I believe, which is on the East coast (I'm on the West coast), and further south, about four hours from Tampa.

[identity profile] bouncepogo.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was the Seminole Hard Rock Casino/Hotel in Hollywood, FL.

[identity profile] revised-06.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I think you're right! Oops! There is a Hard Rock Casino about 25 miles from here and there is a Seminole, FL about 25 miles from here. I just misread it and got all excited because I thought I had some media bltiz happening close to my house! That and I don't know where anything in Florida is yet. Haven't I been here almost a year? Geez.

Anyway, you're right! My bad! I don't have any claim to fame here. I suck. :-(

[identity profile] jerel.livejournal.com 2007-02-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I've been in Florida for 15+ years, and I'm still trying to figure out where everything is. I was proud of myself for working out where Cocoa and Daytona are in relation to each other. :)

[identity profile] revised-06.livejournal.com 2007-02-10 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, good! I'm glad it's not just me. I've just barely learned where things are here in Tampa. I can kind of navigate around the city. You'd think coming from Atlanta I'd be okay with a city smaller and much less traffic-infested. Ah, well. I'll get it one day.

[identity profile] stevenglassman.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Hah!

It's 20-30 miles from MY house instead.

[identity profile] revised-06.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, you win! I suck here in Tampa. Meh. Hehehehehe!

[identity profile] spudmanson.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Surprisingly, the first thing I said about this was, "Aww, now that's kinda sad. I guess they are going to DNA test her baby and she'll never get her money. Shit."

Truth was, I was rooting for her. The money, the baby, even the drugs. I wanted her to have it all. Because strippers deserve more than just going through panties like kleenex.

[identity profile] stevenglassman.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe that yet another news item that will have people talking about it for ages happened in my fucking back yard.

Seriously- I can get to Hollywood in 30 minutes. 20 if traffic is light.

::sigh::
