Okay, who had November 7 in the betting pool?

Britney Spears files for divorce from professional waste of skin K-Fed

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sallerina for the heads-up. Though I have to wonder, will they be nearly as trainwreckingly entertaining on their own, or shall we stay tuned for the divorce-court mudslinging? I wonder who gets the double-wide trailer?

ETA: Though I must admit I'm horrified to see it on the Breaking News crawl at the top of the CNN page on Election Day, of all days. I weep for my nation's priorities. Dammit. I almost got through Election Day without mentioning Election Day on LJ. Dammit.

I'm quite thrilled for Brit-Brit in a way I can't quite explain.

I got a "breaking news" text message to my cellphone about this.

I'm like -- what in the world?

hahahaha you and I had the same reaction to the CNN crawl!

The reason that it ends up on their crawl (and why it almost ended up as a Breaking News email alert from our station) is web hits. We could debate this all day, but I would pretty much guarantee you that we'll get more hits from our Britney story than for any election story we do tonight. And we've got the freaking Duke lacrosse DA, for gawd's sake!

I just made the exact same observation to my officemates about the cnn.com breaking news banner. Perhaps if Britney had a measure of intelligence or useful cultural impact that would warrant concern by John Q. Public about her lovelife, or perhaps if she had not already illustrated a penchant for foolhardy nuptials, I'd think it was worth reporting. I'd say I'm happy that another attractive woman is on the market, but my attraction to her wore off the moment I heard her speak in an interview.

first, I laughed like a moron, and then I thought "well, good for her".

I suspect the election will become breaking news again once something breaks. Until the returns start showing up, there's really not much interesting to report--campaigning is over, it's too late for even the worst gaffe, and all the predictions that can be made have been made. Unless you want to report exit poll results, you might as well stick with the silly chippies and their even sillier sexual escapades.

Right now their main page is all election, all the time.

She got two healthy babies out of him; what more does she need him for?

Though she probably could have chosen a brainier sperm donor.
