I had to try and explain it to my husband (when he was my fiance).

Me: "Okay, so back in 1920..."
Him: "1920? You hate the Yankees because of something that happened before your grandfather was born?"
Me [in a tone of voice which believes the above statment is totally logical]: "Yes."
